Christina is elated to represent the Calumet County Fair as the 2008 official hostess and spokesperson. She is ready for the “WHEELS AND SQUEALS” of the annual Labor Day Weekend event. Her infectious smile and enthusiasm for the fair is felt by her presence at events as she spreads the word about the “Biggest Little Fair in Wisconsin”, celebrating “Fair by Day, Festival by Night!" Christina is presently attending Lakeshore Technical College pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene. Christina is a 2007 graduate of Chilton High School. While a student at Chilton High School, she participated in many activities including: Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Solo Ensemble, Senior Class Editor of CHS Yearbook, Spanish Club, SADD, and Art Club. Honors include Academic Honor Role, Lettering in Band and as a four year Football Manager. Upon graduation Christina received several prestigious scholarships including; Chilton Lions Club, Chilton Youth Club, Affinity Medical Group, and the Baker Scholarship. As a nine year member of 4-H as a Busy Beaver, and most recently Lake View Club, she has served in the positions of Reporter, Activity Leader, Treasurer, and currently Secretary. She has represented Calumet County as a 4-H State Exchange member traveling to Kansas, Louisiana, and Oregon, as well as hosting students from these states. She has attended 4-H Camp Bird for several years, and has served as a counselor for two years. At the Calumet County Fair, Christina has shown horses for eight years. She has qualified for the State 4-H Horse Show, and was the 2004 recipient of the Stebane Horsemanship Award. In addition, she enjoys showing cats, photography, and arts and crafts. As the 42nd Fairest of the Fair, Christina is enjoying making appearances at several banks, day care centers, and libraries. She enjoys the enthusiasm that people share with her as she rides in many parades, and appears at community events such as Sunday on the Farm and the Hilbert Cheese Derby. She looks forward to continuing to promote the Calumet County Fair throughout the remainder of summer. As Christina spends her summer of “WHEELS and SQUEALS” promoting the fair at various events, she is very excited and looking forward to serving as the official hostess at the 2008 Calumet County Fair. She will be handing out ribbons, announcing events, as well as meeting and greeting fair goers. Christina would like to invite everyone to join her at the 2008 Calumet County Fair for a “WHEELING, SQUEALING GOOD TIME!" |

Amanda
Krahn - 2008 Junior Fairest of the Fair Amanda is “Wheeling and Squealing” with excitement to represent the Calumet County Fair as the 14th Junior Fairest of the Fair. Her excitement will be heard throughout the county and beyond its borders as she promotes the activities and events of the upcoming fair. You will see and hear her during the upcoming parade season as she spread the news of the “Biggest Little Fair in Wisconsin”. Amanda will be in the eighth grade this fall at Brillion Public Schools. During the school year Amanda is active in sports. She is also a member of the Brillion FFA Chapter and plays the saxophone in the band. As a member of the Farm & Home 4-H Club, she currently holds the position of Reporter and has been honored as one of the 2006 and 2007 Outstanding Member Award. Her 4-H involvement includes participating in the club demonstration, foods review, meal planning day, dairy judging and exhibiting dairy, and art and crafts at the fair. As Amanda prepares for the upcoming fair, she enjoys spending a great deal of time working with her calf named "Princess" – a fitting name! For a weekend
in June you might see her walking to help support cancer research
during "Relay for Life" at the Brillion Middle School.
In memory of her Grandma Krahn and Aunt Nancy who have both lost
the battled with cancer and also to show support for Grandma Haese
who is a cancer survivor, Amanda has raised funds through donations
and selling luminaries at the annual event. As a member
of St. Bartholomew Church in Brillion, Amanda has been involved
with the youth group and well as helping with the Vacation Bible
School program. |

Katie Klessig - 2007 Fairest of the Fair Katie Klessig, daughter of Steve and Faye Klessig of Brillion represented Calumet County as the 2007 Fairest of the Fair. Katie is presently attending the University of Wisconsin- Madison, pursuing a degree in Life Sciences Communications hoping to pursue a career in agricultural sales and public relations.At the University of Wisconsin, Katie is a member of the Association of Women in Agriculture, Badger Dairy Club, National Agri-marketing Association, Collegiate FFA, Saddle and Sirloin, and is the Student Council Representative for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. As the 41st Fairest of the Fair, Katie attended four radio interviews, two television interviews, nine parades, visited with fifteen sponsoring businesses, competed in a cow milking contest at Sunday on the Farm and the Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs Convention, and spoke at numerous festivals and events all promoting the 2007 Calumet County Fair. Other achievements of Katie include: being a 2005 graduate of Brillion High School, being a 11-year member of the Forest Ever Ready 4-H club where she received the Wisconsin Livestock Breeders Master Stockman award, received four Swine Showmanship awards, received five Speaking Contest awards, was a State Fair Demonstrator for four years and State Fair Clothing Review participant for three years. Katie also had the opportunity to serve as the 2005-2006 State FFA Reporter where she met President George W. Bush, serve as the National Collegiate Agricultural Ambassador, and receive the American FFA Degree. Most important to her is her faith in the Lord as she is a member of the Zion United Methodist Church and adult choir. She credits her love of life to her parents and her Grandma Wink and she credits her passion of agriculture to her Grandpa Wink who she loves and misses deeply. |

McGlin - 2007 Jr. Fairest of the Fair
Jackie McGlin, daughter of Jeffrey and Judy McGlin of Forest Junction, represented Calumet County as the 2007 Junior Fairest of the Fair. March of 2007 started a year to remember as Jackie’s goal of becoming the Junior Fairest of the Fair came true. Since that time she has been “Chasin’ Fun Horsin' Around” promoting the fair. When the Fair announced the coming of the Budweiser Clydesdales her excitement rose to a whole new level. As the 13th Jr. Fairest of the Fair Jackie rode in 12 parades, attended 3 TV and Cable show interviews, had 3 radio interviews, read to children at 4 daycares, 4 libraries, was hostess of Princess for a Day in Brillion, worked with the Farm Bureau Barn Yard Buddies Puppet show, was able the ride on a stockcar for the Star Spangled Banner Lap, handed out cheese at banks, handed out fair information at picnics, merchant promotional events, picnics and at the circus. Jackie also thanked merchants that supported the fair. During the fair her days were filled with handing out ribbons, introducing events, and talking to fair goers. The Fair didn’t end for Jackie as she has continued promoting the fair at events trying to get more people involved by getting the scouting programs and senior citizens informed of the exhibits they may enter at the fair. As an eight year member of the Friendly Valley 4-H Club Jackie has exhibited over 150 exhibits at the Calumet County Fair since she was five years old. She has taken various projects including baking, sewing, photography, crafts, speaking, demonstrations, horseless horse and horses. Jackie has been the secretary of her 4-H club for the past two years and through 4-H she has been honored at the speaking contest, best junior sewer at the clothing revue, merit award for her horseless horse art work, was awarded Ervin Stebane Horse Award in 2006 and has been an outstanding 4-H member. She also has been chosen to host and travel in the 4-H exchange program for 2008-2009. Jackie’s passion is horses. She currently has two horses Diva and Toby. She enjoys training horses and in the future hopes to do horse rescue. Jackie will complete 8th grade at Brillion Middle School in the spring of 2008. Jackie enjoys being a member of the band where she plays drums and likes to express her love of horses thru art. She has been on the Destination Imagination teams since the 3rd grade and was proud to have her team advance to state last year. Jackie also has enjoyed being involved with the middle school plays and was in the 2005 Brillion High School production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat. Jackie participates on the cross country and track teams. Jackie is also a member of the Zion United Methodist Church Forest Jct. where she was confirmed in November of 2007. She likes to be involved with youth retreats to meet other young teens her age. Jackie has never missed the Calumet County Fair since she was 2 days old and with her love of horses the theme “Chasin’ Fun Horse’n Around” is not only the theme for 2007 Calumet County Fair - it’s Jackie’s theme for life. |
